Overview

Ben is an associate on Pierce Jewett’s employment law team in Richmond. Ben represents both employers and individuals on a variety of workplace issues and has litigated extensively in state and federal court on cases ranging from traditional discrimination claims to complex wage disputes and whistleblower litigation. Ben also counsels clients on statutory and regulatory compliance and has made multiple television appearances discussing the laws impacted by COVID-19.

Ben graduated law school magna cum laude from the University of Richmond. Before joining Pierce Jewett, Ben interned for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond. Ben also completed two federal clerkships during which he drafted dozens of opinions for federal judges on a diverse range of legal issues, many related to employment law. Ben is a published author for the University of Richmond Law Review and writes on employment-related topics for Piece Jewett’s legal blog. He was rated as a “Top Lawyer” by Costal Virginia Magazine.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys photography, tennis, and hiking and has, so far, hiked several hundred miles of the Appalachian Trail. Ben has also recently taken up running and has since completed two marathons.

Ben lives in Richmond with his wife and two daughters. He and his family love exploring the city, participating in local events, and interacting with the Richmond community. They also regularly host gatherings at their home, and they attend and serve at Redemption Hill Church in the Woodland Heights area.
