Overview

Joel is an associate attorney with Pierce Jewett’s office in Richmond. A quick study, Joel routinely runs second-chair on a diverse array of matters, ranging from discrimination and wage claims to whistleblower actions, as well as in providing audit and compliance counseling to the firm’s business and non-profit clients.

Joel graduated summa cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he was selected as a member of the McNeill Law Society and the Order of the Coif. Before starting down his path into the legal profession, Joel worked in the litigation finance industry. He also has extensive professional experience in customer service and the performing arts—skills that are simultaneously untraditional and invaluable for an attorney in private practice.

When Joel isn’t practicing law, he is an active member of Richmond’s vibrant theatre community, having appeared in professional productions with Richmond Shakespeare, Virginia Repertory Theatre, and the Chamberlayne Actors’ Theatre. Joel lives in Richmond’s Museum District with his wife Rachel, who is easily the more recognizable face on the Richmond stage.
